U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the initial registration period for the FY 2027 H-1B cap will open at 12:00 PM ET on March 4, 2026, and close at 12:00 PM ET on March 19, 2026. During this period, employers seeking to file H-1B cap-subject petitions must electronically register each intended H-1B beneficiary through their USCIS online account and submit a $215 registration fee per individual.
Key Action Items for Employers
- Create a USCIS Organizational Account: Employers who do not already have a USCIS organizational account on My.USCIS.gov must create one before the registration window opens. For those with existing accounts, please log in to the portal to confirm they are still active.
- Submit registrations starting March 4: While Global Immigration Partners can add company clients to our accounts at any time, both employers and GIP must wait until March 4 to begin entering candidate information and submitting registrations. Registrations must be submitted by 12:00 PM ET on March 19, 2026.
- Selection Notifications by March 31: USCIS will conduct the selection process after the registration period closes and aims to notify selected registrants via their online accounts by March 31, 2026.
Only employers whose registrations are selected will be eligible to file a full H-1B cap-subject petition between April 1st, 2026 and June 30th, 2026.
We recommend initiating H-1B Cap registrations as soon as possible to ensure they are promptly registered within the registration window. For further assistance with your H-1B registration process or petition planning, consult with Global Immigration Partners.
