On August 26, 2024, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, issued an administrative stay that temporarily stops the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from granting parole in place under President Biden’s “Keeping Families Together” program for 14 days.

During this time, USCIS will, until further notice:

  1. Not approve any pending parole in place requests.
  1. Continue to accept new filings of Form I-131F, Application for Parole in Place for Certain Noncitizen Spouses and Stepchildren of U.S. Citizens.
  1. Continue to schedule and capture biometrics (fingerprinting) appointments.

This does not impact applications that were already approved prior to the issuance of the administrative stay order at 6:46 P.M. Eastern Time on August 26, 2024. Individuals with approved Form I-131F may still file for any other eligible immigration benefit, including employment authorization and adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident.

All individuals with biometric appointments should plan to appear at their appointment at the scheduled date and time, as indicated on their notice.
