Business & Immigration Consultation

USCIS issued new policy guidance on the validity of immigration medical examinations. Under this new guidance, immigration medical examinations completed on Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, and signed by a civil surgeon on or after November 1, 2023 will not expire and can now be used indefinitely. Previously, all properly completed Form I-693 retained their evidentiary value for two years from the date of the civil surgeon’s signature.

If an applicant’s Form I-693 was completed before November 1, 2023, the prior policy of the 2-year validity date still applies. Moreover, despite this new policy guidance, USCIS officers retain the discretion to request an updated Form I-693, if deemed necessary. This new policy guidance should hopefully provide some relief for applicants who were previously required to obtain new immigration medical examinations due to long processing delays in green card applications.
